A year ago my first show was “postponed indefini

A year ago my first show was “postponed indefinitely” as was so much else of our lives. I was encouraged by my art world friends @mojosaves , @murphy888 , and @martyblakes to just keep making, to make my covid art, something that would tell a personal pandemic story through my medium.
A year later, after driving to, living and working in Maine, Utah, and California, I’m back in New York to share some of that story. The show is back on, and two of the three pieces wouldn’t be here otherwise.
No need to pick right back up from where we left off, let’s share where we’ve been, and go forward from here. Thank you @algierwork for putting this show together with so many other talented people. And I’m so thankful for the recognition from the art and design world for what I’ve created. This is only the beginning.

Stone and glass sculpting began as a creative exer

Stone and glass sculpting began as a creative exercise of my sabbatical and quickly evolved into the core focus. I've shared a lot of the process in raw form, including much failure and struggle. About a month ago I finished the fifth piece of my first series, photographed them, built a website, and was ready to begin reaching out to galleries and designers when all hell broke loose with the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a gut-wrenching week made worse by being laid off from the part-time work I was doing that helped keep my sabbatical afloat. Panicked thoughts of a recession and collapse of the art market made me doubt the viability of what I was working toward.
Feeling exhausted about feeling in limbo, continuing the course one day at a time feels like the fair answer to myself. After all that’s how I started and I feel proud about where it ended up.

Reflecting on my growth and current chapter, following what makes me happy and gives me energy while not asking permission. Burning Man this year was filled with reminders to look within and companionship from others following the same path.

After reading the standard write ups of the island

After reading the standard write ups of the island of Pico, I expected barren and repetitive lava fields and not much else. I spun the wheel of chance on a cute house opposite the side of the island where the recommended hotels and wineries lay, and was blown away with the charm, beauty, and natural diversity of this special place.
